答案 It is a common phenomenon that an overwhelming number of advertisements regard children as the target group, and persuade them, especially their parents, to buy clothes, toys and even some luxuries. Urgently, this advertising means needing a thorough examination as for its justification. There is no doubt that such advertisements exert a repercussion on children’s family. Generally speaking, children can influence the family’s purchasing orientation, which is best illustrated in Chinese families where the family planning is strictiy pursued. Due to this national policy in China, and adults unwilling to have more kids, children are usually spoilt and every need, even seemingly unreasonable ones, will be satisfied by their parents. Under such circumstances, some manufacturers take advantage of children’s inexperience and impulsion, designing fancy advertisements to draw their attention and even cheat kids, which will drag families under unbearable economic burden. The side representing the interests of manufacturers and advertising agencies, of course, insists that there must be advertisement belonging to youngsters. According to their understanding, children can benefit from those specific advertisements just as adults do, and otherwise it is unfair in that they have no other channels to know any commodity information concerning their particular world. As for me, however, the main responsibility children assume at their age group is to acquire as much knowledge as possible, so in the future they can make a substantial contribution to society. If what they pay attention to is about fashion, then their learning efficiency is really doubted. My view is that in view of children’s vulnerable mentality and weighty responsibility, advertisements for children should be limited. Even if we allow some ones, they must be public service advertisements arousing concern for social vulnerable groups rather than encouraging buying.
