A recent study shows that half of teens communicate with their parents through social media, and 16 percent of them have daily interactions, suggesting that social networking may help parents and children strengthen their relationship. However, some people argue that if children spend too much time on the Internet, the parent-child relationship will be hurt. The fact that some parents stalk or follow their children anonymously on social media also gives rise to distrust between parents and children. What is your opinion? Which is better for parent-child communication, real-life communication or online communication? Write an essay of about 400 words.
You should supply an appropriate title for your essay.

More Space Is Required for Real-Life Communication Nowadays, with the development of social media, especially the network, more and more people, especially teens, tend to use the Internet to communicate with their parents. While some hold that the Internet serves as a very good means of parent-child communication, many others argue that virtual communication online actually undermines parent-child relationship. I am with the latter, believing that more space should be given to real-life communication, which boosts honesty, trust and concentration. Firstly, real-life communication is much better than communication online in terms of enhancing parent-child relationship, for the former can better guarantee honesty of the communication. Real-life communication is often a combination of verbal communication and body-language communication. And it is often done in an extemporaneous manner. These two factors together ensure that people have little chance to ask for others’ advice or make up lies or excuses without looking or sounding awkwardly during communication. Therefore, real-life communication itself constitutes a confirmation of honesty. Secondly, real-life communication deserves more attention than online communication, for it can eliminate distrust between parents and children. According to a recent survey, most children feel disgusted if their parents stalk or follow their accounts anonymously on social media. However, what they do not realize is that they barely talk with their parents in their daily life and thus parents have to do in that way so as to know them well. Therefore, both sides should talk with each other through real-life communication and distrust between parents and children will be greatly eliminated. The more frequent face-to-face communication is, the less distrust and conflicts between parents and children will be. Thus, full play should be given to real-life communication. Thirdly, real-life communication is more desirable than online communication for parents and children can concentrate better on it. With the help of multi-model expressions including frequent eye-contacts and body languages, there is little chance for parents or children to be distracted when communicating. However, when communicating online, children may browse other websites, send e-mails or even talk with different people simultaneously, which surely undermines the degree of concentration on each part, making parents feel that they are not important. Thus, in order to improve parent-child relationship, it is better to communicate face-to-face. In a nutshell, compared with communication through social media and social networking, real-life communication deserves more attention, for it better ensures honesty and trust between parents and children, with a certain degree of concentration involved in it. It is especially true that parent-child communication deserves greater attention for the relationship between parents and children is usually quite delicate.
