You will hear another five recordings. Five people are talking about dealing with problems in a team.
For each recording, decide what the speaker’s opinion is.
Write one letter(A-H)next to the number of the recording.
Do not use any letter more than once.
After you have listened once, replay the recordings.
You have 15 seconds to read the list A-H.
[pause]
Now listen, and decide what the speaker’s opinion is.

Eighteen
Woman: By now, I always try to schedule a group meeting with team to address the problem, when our project meets some troubles. Bringing awareness to the team that an existing problem allows the team to address the issue collaboratively and keeps individual members from feeling singled out. While my addressing the problem openly, I also demonstrate leadership and encourage a cohesive approach.
[pause]
Nineteen
Man: I manage to hold some team-building activities that are served as an icebreaker that helps members relax and get to know each other a little better. I have tried a short celebration of the team’s resolution or an informal get-together. While over-socialising can become a problem by itself, I feel from those activities that some socialising is helpful to keep the team motivated when overcoming problems.
[pause]
Twenty
Woman: See, from my experience, as a team leader, I demonstrate my own commitment to make the team a success. Sometimes, all we need is the opportunity to show our opinions. I know that team members are interdependent individuals. And I’d like to try to remind team members of their roles, and why their cooperation is important to the overall success of the team.
[pause]
Twenty-one
Man: I always try to remind the team members about the excitement and commitment that they had at the team’s forming. I also direct the group’s attention to the tasks that need to be accomplished, how problems will be handled, what is considered acceptable behaviour in the group and any barriers the group perceives in accomplishing the team’s goals and mission.
[pause]
Twenty-two
Woman: Well, as for me, I try to resolve problems in the team by asking team members for input. I just ask for team members’ commitment toward future cooperation and resolving the problem. And I listen to what members say, approach the problem from a positive viewpoint and affirm the team’s efforts. I also encourage constructive feedback and criticism that is focused on resolution.
[pause]
Now listen to the recordings again.
[pause]
That is the end of Part Two.
