For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay on the topic Telling Lies. You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words following the outline given below:
1.人们对说谎通常的看法。
2.说谎是否有害。
3.说明你的看法。
选项
答案
Telling Lies Telling lies is usually (1) looked upon as an evil deed, because some people try to get profits from dishonest means or try to conceal their faults. (2) However, I think despite its negative effects, sometimes it is essential to our daily life. First, the liar may take advantage of the lie by escaping from the pressure of unnecessary embarrassment. Meanwhile, the listener may also feel more comfortable by reasonable excuses. (3) For example, if a little girl’ s father died in an accident, her mother would comfort her by saying "farther has gone to another beautiful land". In such cases, a lie with good intention is better than a cruel fact. Second, the skills of telling lies (4) to some extent can be regard as a capacity of creation and imagination. (5) Therefore, taking all these factors into consideration, we can definitely come to the conclusion that whether telling a lie is harmful or not depends on its original intention and the ultimate result it brings.
解析
(1)look down upon固定搭配,意为“看做;当做”。
(2)however表转折,阐述否认的理由。
(3)举例说明,证明谎言也可能是善意的。
(4)to some extent意为“在一定程度上”。
(5)总结,与however呼应,形成完整的逻辑结构。
