答案
Differences in Tuition Between Chinese and American University Students The sources of Chinese university students’ tuition are quite different from those of American students. In China, university students get 90% of their tuition from their parents, while in America, only 50% is provided by parents. In addition, Chinese students earn only 5% of their tuition from part-time jobs and 5% from fellowships, while tuition from these two sources for American college students takes up 35% and 15% respectively. From my point of view, there are probably three main reasons for these differences. First, Chinese university students have formed the habit of asking their parents for money, while American students have developed a sense of being financially independent due to different social and family values. Second, most Chinese parents would rather save up to afford their children’s education and living costs than encourage them to take part-time jobs. But in America, many parents pay more attention to developing their children’s ability of self-reliance, so they support their children in doing part-time jobs to earn money by themselves. Third, since America is more developed than China, it is relatively easy for students to find part-time jobs. I believe more and more Chinese students will realize the necessity of self-dependence. More college students will be out of the ivory tower to broaden their knowledge and to become the master of their own life in the future.
