Canada Situated in the north of North America and bordering USA in the south, Canada has a total area of 9, 976, 139 sq. km in which the arable land is 5% , the forest is 46% and the mountain area is 41%. The Canadian population was 26, 992, 000 (1994) and the density was less than 3 per sq. km. The Canadians speak both English and French since in history the present Canada was the colony of France and Great Britain successively. As a result, many people are bilingual. Most parts of Canada are cold and only the southern part is temperate. Canada’s annual rainfall is about 80 cm. It’s capital, Ottawa, is a beautiful southern city which attracts many tourists each year.
