Yes:
To job holders, working long hours may cause a feeling of stress and psychological disturbance.
Long working hours tend to exert pressure on employees and make fewer employment opportunities attractive. High unemployment rates are always regarded as a threat to a country’s economy. What’s more, people with parenting responsibilities would be disadvantaged, because they are neither able nor willing to work long hours.
To employers, long working hours would lead to not only the lower quality of work output but also the high turnover of staff and absenteeism.
No:
People who are keen on work always put great effort into their tasks, work longer hours, and are more productive than those who aren’t. They work 25% more hours than other employees.
As their salary increases, the time they spend at work also tends to increase. So people have to either settle with lower pay and more free time or settle with higher pay and no free time at all. Of course, there are some people who don’t care if they have to work longer hours as long as they get extra pay.
Working overtime is also a method of increasing job security and getting promotion opportunities.
Write your response on ANSWER SHEET THREE.

Should Working Long Hours Be Restricted? Among the regulations that protect employees’ benefits, the most contentious one has always been the compulsory limit on working hours. There are directives preventing workers from being forced to work long hours, because it will lead to more job stress, fewer job openings and lower working efficiency. But some people who oppose restricting working hours point out that working overtime can increase employees’ income as well as their chances for promotion. As for me, I am in support of the limitation on working long hours. In the first place, working long hours will reduce employees’ leisure time and communication with others. As a result, it would be hard for them to maintain and improve their relations with family members and friends, which is detrimental to their lives. Moreover, people are more liable to get fatigued and sick because of the extension of working hours, which is a threat to their health. In addition, working long hours may result in chronic stress and psychological problems. In brief, there might be some exemptions, but the restriction on working long hours should be applied to the majority of workers. And people should learn to love themselves, arrange their time wisely and get enough rest, so that they can perform well at work.
