W: I hope we are not late.
M: Don’t be silly, dear. There’s plenty of time. We don’t take off until half past ten.
W: The ticket says we should check in two hours before take-off time.
M: Half past eight. And here we are. On the dot.
W: Where do we go to check in?
M: Can you see the JAL sign?
W: There are so many signs. The hall must be a mile long.
M: I can see it. It’s over there.
Clerk: Good evening, sir.
M: Evening. Is this where we check in for the flight to Copenhagen?
Clerk : That’s right, sir. Flight 402.
M: I hope we are not late.
Clerk: No, there are still quite a lot of passengers to come. What name, please?
M: Mr. Williams and Mrs. Williams.
Clerk: Mr.... and Mrs. Williams...Here we are. May I see your tickets and passports, please?
M: We’d like a couple of seats by the window, if possible.
Clerk: Yes, your travel agent booked you window seats. You are in thirty-four A and B.
M: Fine.
Clerk: Is this all your luggage?
M: That’s right, yes. These two cases and the two smaller bags.
Clerk: Please just lift them onto the scales.
M: I hope we are not overweight.
W: So do I. With your passion for souvenirs, the cases will be a great deal heavier coming back.
M: How much are we allowed?
Clerk: Twenty kilos per person. You’ve got a total of thirty-three. You’re well within the limit.
M: Thank goodness for that.
Clerk: You’ll be taking the smaller bags aboard as cabin luggage, will you, sir?
M: That’s right. My wife has got two dozen magazines and about five kilograms of make-up in them.
Clerk: If you’ll attach these labels to them, then, please. We’ll deal with the cases.
M: O.K.
Clerk: Everything seems to be in order. I’ve stapled your luggage claim tags to the tickets. Here are your boarding passes. You’ll be able to go through passport control and into the final departure lounge in about fifteen minutes. It’s up the stairs and straight ahead.
M: O.K. Thanks.
Clerk: Have a pleasant journey.
W: Wonderful Copenhagen, here we come!
M: Let’s go and have some coffee, shall we?
W: O.K.
