You are to write an essay according to the following situation:
It seems that in the information age we are spending less and less time in outdoor activities such as biking, camping, fishing, hiking and walking than we are watching TV, playing video games, blogging and hanging out online. This new human tendency to focus on sedentary activities involving electronic media, particularly television, the Internet, and video games is now termed "videophilia. " Experts worry that videophilia may affect our society in significant ways. What do you think of videophilia?
Requirements: Write an essay of about 350 words to expound clearly your viewpoint on this topic. You need to supply a title for your essay.
In the first part of your writing you should present your viewpoint in a well-formulated thesis statement; in the second part, you should support the thesis statement with appropriate details; in the last part you should bring what you have written to a natural conclusion with a comment.
Marks will be awarded for content, organization, syntactic variety, proper length, and appropriate word choice. Failure to follow the above instructions may result in the loss of marks. Remember to produce a clean fair copy.

My Viewpoints on Videophilia Nowadays, with the rapid growth of science and technology, so many electronic media like the Internet and video games have started emerging. Although electronic media can enrich people’s life, it also brings some negative impacts. The most distinct harm is that people are spending less and less time in outdoor activities to contact with nature so that their health is becoming worse and worse. Because of a new tendency to emphasize sedentary activities involving electronic media, a new term " videophilia" occurs. As far as I am concerned, I think videophilia may affect our life in significant ways. First of all, face-to-face communications are becoming less and less. Although there are many ways and platforms for people to communicate with each other, all of these methods are limited to the Internet. Nowadays people use blog and some newly-designed devices to get in touch with their friends and relatives. They have less chance to have a face-to-face communication. Thus the relationship between them will not be solid. Therefore, videophilia will greatly influence people’s interpersonal relationship. Secondly, videophiia can affect people’s health. On one hand, nowadays people are reluctant to take outdoor activities, owing to the tremendous appeal of electronic media. They would like to stay at home to watch TV, or play video games rather than camp, fish, and walk. Hence, the condition of their health is rather worrying. On the other hand, there is a tendency that people will have a sedentary habit which would do harm to people’s health. Last but not least, videophilia would decrease the time to contact with nature. As we know, people will stay indoor to surf the Internet and browse the blog. As a result, there is less chance for them to travel and to get the knowledge of nature, which is not beneficial to their development. From what has been discussed above, we may reasonably arrive at the conclusion that we should try our best to avoid the negative effects of videophilia and make a balance between indoor activities and outdoor activities. Videophilia can be a good form to share ideas and get information. However, videophilia can also be a double-edged sword. Therefore, we should make full use of the advantageous impact and get rid of unfavorable factors.
