U. S. and Europe’s approach to foreign students is to westernize them in a way of educating future leaders.

The idea that educating future leaders from other nations will make them more Western has long guided the U. S. and Europe’s generous approach to foreign students of high and low parentage but not everyone thinks it works.

It seems that our brains react in a special way to people we know. People are more likely to do stuff if they know the person who is asking them, regardless of whether they have differences of opinion with the person.
