答案 In the picture, a mother is trying to talk to her kid. But her kid, with his eyes fixed on the computer screen, waves no to her, saying: "Can’t talk now—I’m chatting." This picture vividly captures the irony in the Internet age: we refuse to communicate with people around us, and in stead seek strangers online to talk with. It is sad that our interpersonal relationship has been weakened by the convenient and ubiquitous access to the Internet. Years ago, when we tried to communicate with our friends and relatives, we probably had to wait for months for the letters to arrive. The communication back then was infrequent but highly valued by us. Now, how ever, as the Internet has made the means of communication much easier, we do not take personal contact seri ously. Driven by the curious desire for novelty, we change our online chatting buddies on daily or even hourly basis. Bit by bit, we find ourselves in a relation vacuum, es tranging friends and relatives in reality while making friends who come easy and go easy in the virtual world. In conclusion, we need to be wary of the disruptive impact the Internet does on our interpersonal relationship, and remember that nothing feels more real than the people around us.
