According to the Legal Evening News, China’s Criminal Law is likely to include a new charge of "driving a motor vehicle in a dangerous manner". And many people think that the drunk driving criminalized in a separate case as a criminal norm is imperative. What is your opinion? Write an essay of about 400 words on the following topic:
Is It Necessary to Make Acts of Drunk Driving into a Crime
In the first part of your essay you should state clearly your main argument, and in the second part you should support your argument with appropriate details. In the last part you should bring what you have written to a natural conclusion or make a summary.
Marks will be awarded for content, organization, grammar and appropriateness. Failure to follow the above instructions may result in a loss of marks.

答案
Is It Necessary to Make Acts of Drunk Driving a Crime With the [1] tremendous development of China’s economy, automobile industry [2] greets spring and the number of automobile users is [3] proliferating in an exploding way. Accordingly, the traffic accident rate is increasing to a large extent. [4] According to an investigation of WHO, about 600,000 traffic accidents take place every year in our country, and nearly 50 to 60 percent traffic accidents are directly related to drunk driving. The bloody scenes of accident sites and the death of promising lives have so deeply impressed the public [5] that some people propose [5] that drunk driving be made a crime instead of a mere violation of traffic rules. Personally, I cannot agree with them more. Firstly, drunk driving always causes [6] irretrievable and incalculable losses, but under the current laws and regulations, penalties for drunk driving are too light, which is quite unfair to the victims. [7] A case in point is that a drunk driver in Henna killed 6 and wounded 7 (including the driver himself) last year but when he was accused and sentenced, he only got six and a half years in jail. Secondly, drunk driving itself should be considered as a crime since drunk drivers know it very clearly that their behaviors have a huge potential to endanger the lives of both themselves and other innocent people. However, alcohol-related traffic accidents are still happening everyday in our country. To find out its cause, [8] the main reason is no other than that drunk drivers always consider themselves as lucky dogs until the real disasters occur. Therefore, only by criminalizing drunk driving can the potential offenders be prevented to take any chance and thereby eliminate the potential hazards brought by drunk driving from the origin. Thus, a major factor of traffic accident will be diminished and our transportation environment will be safer. [9] AH in all, although the debate over whether it is necessary to make drunk driving a crime is still continuing, as for my point of view, I’m for it. I insist the penalties of drunk driving be enhanced so that there will be less tragedies caused by car accidents. I believe only when drunk driving is made a crime can the laws and regulations be regarded as [10] ultimate deterrent.
