答案
Should Teachers Take Part-Time Jobs? The controversial topic of whether teachers’ moonlighting should be allowed or banned has existed for long. Opponents insist professional teachers should be forbidden from taking part-time jobs at training agencies and from organizing paid after-school classes. If they’re allowed to do so, some teachers might deliberately make short shrift of normal class teaching so that they can make extra money by offering lessons out of class. Supporters, however, think teachers’ moonlighting should be allowed. They argue that to take a part-time job after eight hours’ work is a teacher’s freedom and also a legal right. Their knowledge and teaching capability are their own resource, so no one should restrict them from using them. Besides, we can’t deny that some teachers today are underpaid. In my view, teachers have the right to freely allocate their own spare time, no matter if it is spent in rest or making money. And I believe that to give tuition for payment will not necessarily affect a teacher’s fulfillment of duties. Otherwise, will going to the cinema or playing poker in one’s spare time also have a negative effect?
