This was a famous song in the rural areas. Mothers often use it to soothe their babies and put them to sleep. It was an eight-line song and the way my mum sang it was hypnotic. Sometimes when I find it hard to sleep, I will think about it and that always brings me comfort. 　　Mum was the one who always hummed this little happy tune to me till I was 6 when I had to go to school. The school I went to was a boarding school, so I had to live by myself. When I felt lonely sometimes, I would sing the song to myself, imaging that my mum was there with me.
