Question 2 Introduction This report aims to analyse in which way the company should reinvest its profits this year. Options under consideration are as follows: purchase of new company buses, provision of language training courses and payment of special bonuses. Options under consideration New company buses The motorcade of company buses are aged but still good to use. They are equipped with comfortable sofa seats, air-conditioning system, and even karaoke. Their hardware is by no means out of date. Furthermore, engines of these vehicles were just replaced last year, and the new ones all come from Volvo which run smoothly. Consequently, new company buses would be out of the question. Culture comparative courses The company is planning to increase its international market shares, particularly in China and Japan. Therefore, attending culture comparative courses would be of significant help for employees who will deal with business partners and customers in those regions. In addition, courses would increase cohesion: staff members would get along with each other as classmates. They would certainly remember this period of happy time for many years to come. Therefore, the idea of spending on culture comparative courses is not bad. Special bonus payments Although special bonus payments would give stimulation on motivations, they would have no immediate improvement on the company’s overall performances. There’s also a potential hazard concerning the resentment among staff ineligible for the payments. Once a precedent for future payments is set, what shall we do to boost the morale in a rainy day? Therefore, choosing to invest in bonus payments would be unwise. Recommendations It is concluded that a win-win situation for both the company and staff would be achieved by investing in culture comparative courses. It is suggested that the company should arrange courses in Chinese and Japanese. Those employees who have contact with partners and customers in the above regions should be assured of places. For other interested members of staff, though, they should also be encouraged to attend. Question 3 Mr. CEO, I am writing this proposal to apply for an additional post in our department. As sales have been greatly increased recently, we are now short of hands and are in need of an additional receptionist to assist our work. The person appointed as the receptionist is expected to perform such duties as answering phones and questions from the customers, introducing our company and products to them as well as dealing with other businesses when necessary. Candidates interested in this post are supposed to possess the following qualities: female, under 30, with good appearance and stature, bachelor’s degree or above, business or marketing major preferred, at least one year’s working experience related to this field, excellent communication and presentation skills, strong ability for teamwork, confident and outgoing character as well as good command of English. In terms of treatment, we intend to offer a most competitive remuneration package to the qualified candidate, including decent salary, bonuses, perquisites, medical insurance, housing allowance and other fringe benefits, all of which will be higher than the national averages besides, we will provide plenty of chances for career training and individual developments also, the appointed employee is entitled to enjoy an annual vacation with pay after working for one year. The above is the proposal of our department. I will be looking forward to your early reply. Best wishes! Sincerely Yours Kay Jan 5th, 2010 Question 4 Dear Mr. Lee, On behalf of Rainbow jeans Company, we would like to invite you to join us in a conference planned for 12-15 November.
