Teaching offers many advantages. First, being a teacher allows one to be a learner. One can keep on learning a lot both from books and students. Second, a teacher’s job is not, and does not need to be, routine. A teacher enjoys much more independence and has much more control over what he does than many other professionals do. Third, a teacher has long vacations. He can do whatever he likes, such as reading, writing and researching, in his free time and during summer and winter holidays.
However, teaching is not a profession that everyone likes. It is a demanding job. It means red eyes, sweaty-palms and sinking stomach. On the other hand, a teacher’s salary and prestige are relatively low and his hard work often goes unnoticed and unappreciated. So something has to be done to change this situation.
