The walls of the jail! " The intention of this picture, I think, is to offer a cautionary tale about the criminal nature of accepting bribery. This is a timely reminder for those who are tempted to trade power with money. As far as I am concerned, bribery is a serious illegal act that must be prevented. For one thing, officials, especially those with decision-making power, should be constantly reminded about the consequences of accepting bribery. For another thing, a systemic scheme of making officials’ financial status accessible to general public is helpful in keeping them in check. This mechanism is effective in deterring their officers from doing monkey business. In short, in fighting against bribery, raising awareness of the harm it does and making officials’ financial information available to all are two necessary measures.
