After you have read the task, you will have a discussion on the given topic. Your discussion time is around three minutes. OK? Now read your task card. Well. can you start your discussion now? Wang Fei: Well, I think one of the things our organization could do for these employees is to allow them relatively flexible working schedules, because like caring for a child, anything could happen while caring for an elderly parent. Sun Hao: You mean these employees could be forgiven if they are late for work when emergency occurs to their elderly parents? Wang Fei: Yeah. Sun Hao: But it would be very unfair to other employees who are not eligible for this benefit. Wang Fei: I know. I haven’t quite finished yet. Sun Hao: Well, I think, in order to help them, our organization should allow them to take longer unpaid leaves of up to a certain amount of time, and also allow them to return to their present jobs and current salaries after that. Wang Fei: Good idea. Let’s come to the second point. What benefit should the employees with elderly parents to care for not expect to get? Sun Hao: Well, I think they should not expect any cash benefit. You know, they could only get help that is not cash-related. Wang Fei: Yes. and I think that... Interviewer: Do you think it’s necessary for a company to create such kind of benefit for its employees? Wang Fei: Yes. Most employees would have to face the problem of caring for elderly parents sooner or later. And without assistance, they would make mistakes on the job. And...
