Flowers - Do you like flowers? Why or why not? Definitely, flowers make our world more lively and colourful. I can’t imagine life without flowers. I like the fragrance which could make people feel comfortable and pleasant. I like keeping flowers at home and attending them. - When was the last time you bought flowers? And what for? It was on Mother’s Day when I bought a bunch of carnation for my mother. It’s said that carnation best describes the eternal love of mothers. It makes the perfect gift for Mother’s Day, presenting my love for my mom. - Do you think flowers can express emotions or attitude? Absolutely. Different flowers describe different feelings and emotions. We give flowers to family members and friends to show our love and care, and we give flowers on festival or memorial ceremony to express our courtesy or respect. - Are flowers important in your culture? Why or why not? Yes, in China, flowers have special meanings. For instance, roses represent a symbol of love so that men usually send roses to their lovers on some special occasions or when proposing. And lilies symbolise a love of a hundred years so they are often used for decoration at the wedding. And plum blossom and chrysanthemum are highly praised for their characteristics in ancient poems. Handwriting - Do you usually write by hand or write using a computer? In most case, I write on a computer, as many young people do now. From time to time I may have to take note or write my own journal with pens. But most of the time, a computer can do the job. I write my homework, paper, email or blog entirely by typing on computer. - Nowadays, how do most people write things? Well, technology has greatly change people’s writing habits. Nowadays, people usually use their computers or tablets to type, which is faster than writing by hands. Besides, they don’t have to worry about spelling mistakes with the auto spelling check function on the Office Word. People can write everywhere, even lying in bed just with their thumbs pressing on cell phones. - Do you think handwriting is very important nowadays? No, it becomes less important now. Typing words is more friendly to read than someone’s poor handwriting. People write less and less with pen and paper but with keyboards and tablets, even handwriting has become a rare and serious thing that people would only do on very special occasion such as writing holiday cards. - Do you think handwriting can reflect one’s personality? Yes, there is a saying ’the writing is like the personality’. A man and his personality can be revealed by his handwriting. Careful and serious person’s handwriting tends to look neat and tidy, while careless person would write in a sloppy and scratchy manner.
