M: 21st...Oh, I have an appointment with my lawyer on that day. Is 22nd OK?
W: No problem. I’ll write it down,

Two: Which department did Susan work for?

Ml: Susan, let me introduce. This is Mathew Young from Polygram.
W: Hi, Mr Young, nice to meet you. Which department do you work in Polygram?
M2: I worked in Sales Department for one year but now I am in the Marketing Department.
W: I used to work in Polygram for two years, but I was in the Finance Department.
M2: Oh, really, that’s interesting.
[pause]
Three: What is the recommended stock of coal?
[pause]
M: Kathy, shall we go through the inventory then? Let’s start with coal.
W: We have about 45 tons. But we are supposed to have 70 tons.
M: So we’ve got too little. We’d better order some more. How about gas?
W: I think we have enough stock for that.
M: OK, thank you then.
[pause]
Four: Which graph is correct?
[pause]
M: Miss Gorton, could you tell me something about our turnover in the past 4 months?
W: OK. Our turnover leveled off in January and February and rose sharply in March, but dropped Suddenly in April.
[pause]
Five: What is the woman doing?
[pause]
W: I’m terribly sorry, but I really have got to go. I’m meeting someone at 3 o’clock. Thanks for a really lovely dinner. See you again soon.
M: See you soon.

Six: What does the man dislike about the job ?
[pause]
M: I work in the export department of a trading company. Generally speaking, I enjoy my work. You see, trading is what I really want to do. My colleagues are very nice. The perks are good. And my boss is terrific. I have to travel aboard about once a month. I used to think it was fun but not now, maybe I’m getting old.
[pause]
Seven: How long is the warranty of the computer?
[pause]
A: So tell me, what sort of guarantee do you offer on this model?
B: Oh, let me see, the guarantee includes all parts, to two months.
A: Two months?
B: Yes, oh no, no, two years.
A: Does this guarantee cover accessories?
B: Er, no, no. It doesn’t. The printer that goes with the computer also has a guarantee for one year.
[pause]
Eight: Where does the woman suggest that the man get change?
[pause]
M: Miss, can you give me change for a dollar?
W: I’m sorry, sir. I’m not allowed to give change without a purchase. If you go across the hall, you’ll find a change machine in front of the bookstore.
