On average, fathers spoke less than mothers did, but they did not differ in the length of utterances or proportion of questions asked.
Finally, the researchers 【C5】______ the children’ s speech at age 3, using a standardized language test. The only predictors of high scores on the test were the mother’s level of education, the【C6】______of child care and the number of different words the father used.
The researchers are【C7】______why the father’s speech, and not the mother’s, had an effect.

It could be that the high-functioning mothers in the study had【C9】______had a strong influence on their children’ s speech development, Ms. Panc-sofar said, "or it may be that mothers are【C10】______in a way we didn ’t measure in the study."

选项
答案
N
解析
此空介于系动词be和原因从句之间,可知这里需要填形容词或者动词的过去分词,可选的词里面只有unsure符合题意,意为“研究者们不确定,为什么是父亲的语言而不是母亲的语音对孩子有影响”,故选N。
