答案
Varying Talking Speed Adds Meaning Being able to speak quickly creates interest in what you’re trying to say. President Reagan often spoke at only eighty to one hundred words per minute, but he was listened to. So speed is not all there is to consider. But there are more changes in tone, variety of facial expression and believability about people who vary their speaking speed. Faster talking communicates interest and excitement while slower talking emphasises a point, showing that you’re taking the time to be careful and precise. Being able to talk at two hundred words per minute does not mean that you must talk at that speed, but it does allow you to when you want to. If you do then the people you’re talking with may too! Native speakers of a language can use longer sentences with more complex vocabulary and precise word use when they speak slowly and tend towards short, basic vocabulary, simple grammar and present tense when they speak faster.
