You will hear a telephone talking about claims.
You have 15 seconds to read through the notes.
[Pause]
Now listen, and fill in the spaces.
Man: Good morning. Teeny Export Corporation. Can I help you?
Woman: Hello. This is Sarah Webster from Melville Ltd. I’m calling to settle the claim for the clothes.
Man: Oh, yes, we’ve received your notice of claim. You said that nearly 30% of the goods is moldy. Do you have any evidence?
Woman: Sure, the goods have been inspected by Hong Kong Commodity Inspection Bureau. The inspection shows that damage was caused by deficient packing. So we have no choice but to lodge a claim for the losses.
Man: But I can assure you that the goods were in excellent condition when they left San Francisco. I guess other factors, such as the excessive moisture at sea may be the cause of the moldiness.
Woman: I don’t agree. I think we should respect the inspection analysis.
Man: Well, your findings can’t be the only means to determine who should hold the liability. As a matter of fact, we can take no control over the loss occurring on route and thus can not accept your claim.
