What is the main purpose of the talk?

Hello, everyone. Please take your seats. I’m sure most of you have been informed that Mr. Wendell Kaplan will be arriving next week. Mr. Kaplan was highly recommended by the school board because of his many achievements in the field. After finishing his master’s degree in molecular biology, he worked as a researcher at the Elida Institute for four years, during which he received recognition for his studies. He will be replacing Mr. Gonzaga, who retired last semester. On Monday, Mr. Kaplan will be shown around the school. We’ve also organized a small welcome party for him in the conference room in the afternoon. We request that everyone try to attend.
