答案
Lectures and Discussions Nowadays, there is a heated debate over the role of lectures and discussions. Some people believe that lectures can help students learn things quickly. In contrast, others hold that discussions can stimulate students to learn by themselves. Those who hold the first opinion state that students should attend more lectures. Since giving lectures provides a way in which the knowledge teachers have accumulated over years can be taught to others, which helps students do better in studying and researching. However, others hold the belief that by means of discussion, teachers usually guide the students instead of dominating them. They argue that students have to develop their ability to analyze problems independently by getting involved in a discussion, In my opinion, I stand on the side of neither idea. First of all, either method has its disadvantages. Furthermore, each student has his or her preference. Thirdly, lectures are preferable to discussions in the teaching of science subjects, and on the contrary, discussions are advisable in studying the humanities. Therefore, we should adopt different teaching methods according to different subjects.
