What does the man possibly want to do?

M: Shirley, can you tell me some information about the application for J-l visa? I was told that you are well informed about that.
W: Well, I have applied for it twice. What do you want to know?
M: Anything, you know, I have no idea at all.
W: OK. First you have to apply for a university who will accept you as a visiting scholar. And after you get the admission, you can apply to the council for your visa.
M: Yes, I’ve got DS-2019 from Utah University. What shall I bring with me, just the DS-2019 form and my passport?
W: Oh, no, not enough. You have to bring with you your brief resume, certificate and finance support letter from your university and the information of Utah University and your tutor.
M: Is that all?
W: No, not yet. You have to provide the office with all the materials concerning with your research plan: such as what field you will cover, what help you may get from Utah University, what kind of progress you may get at the end of the visiting period, and so on.
M: Shall I tell them my personal information?
W: Of course. You should.
M: You mean my education background, work experience, and so on?
W: No, you needn’t. Maybe the officer will ask whether you will take any of your family members with you and how you arrange their life there.
