   YES
Unlike some other selection methods, an interview produces instant and mutual communication between the interviewer and the interviewee, which allows the interviewer to know better about the interviewee’s reactions and communication skills.
An interview enables the interviewer to meet the interviewee in person. It is quite important because the interviewer can use this opportunity to observe the interviewee in a more comprehensive way, including his appearance and manners, especially for some positions which require the employee to communicate with other people frequently.
An interview makes it possible for the interviewer to ask further questions which make the whole selection process more effective.
   NO
Some individuals excel in interviews, presenting model body language, speaking with confidence, exhibiting charisma. However, this doesn’t mean that they’re the most qualified candidates for the job.
An interviewer’s own prejudice and preference—whether conscious or  subconscious—might affect the way   candidates are viewed and assessed.
Without appropriate scoring rubrics and other objective way of measurement, interviewers make a decision based on their personal opinions and perceptions. This decreases the reliability of the interview.

答案 Is An Interview a Reliable Means of Selecting Talent? Generally speaking, interviewing job applicants for a position within a company is one of the final steps in the hiring process and this method is believed to be of comparatively high reliability since interviewers can observe interviewees directly. And yet, many people think some factors may make the interview less reliable in evaluating candidates, such as the interviewee’s attitude and the interviewer’s perception. From my perspective, an interview can be fairly reliable in assessing a candidate’s qualifications for a job, but there are some factors that can affect the reliability of the interview. For one thing, since there are no universally accurate answers to subjective questions at interview, the interviewer may have different expectations of the candidates, which can influence the reliability of the interview to a large extent. For another, the interview is not a selection procedure applicable to all job vacancies. For many jobs, the interviewer can’t adequately assess an applicant’s qualifications, since the position involves skills which are difficult to be measured at interview. For these types of jobs, there are some other better methods of selection, such as actual operation and skill competition. On the whole, the interviewing process can be a tremendous help if interviewers use it effectively, but an interview alone may not be sufficiently reliable to determine a prospective candidate’s qualifications.
