答案 Generally speaking, there were more male research students studying science-related subjects than female research students at this UK university in 2009. As revealed in the above chart, male research students dominated the Physics, with a number of around 220, whereas that of the female students amounted to no more than 50. The numbers of male research students studying Astronomy and Geology were practically the same, around 150, while for female students, the numbers were respectively about 60 and 80. When it comes to Biology and Medicine, the gap between the numbers of male and female students narrowed down. There were almost 240 male students in Biology, while the number of female students was about 200. Nearly 200 male students and 175 female students were studying the Medicine subject. The only subject with more female students was the Veterinary medicine, with about 90 male students and 115 female students.
