Sometimes normally positive coworkers are negative. Some of the time, too, they have their reasons for negativity (消极情绪). You will take a completely different way to deal with these occasionally negative coworkers.
You need to listen until you are certain that they feel heard out and listened to. Sometimes people repeat negative sentiments (情绪) over and over because they don’t feel like you have really listened to them. Ask questions. Really understand their statements. Make sure that you have actively listened.
Decide whether you believe the employee or coworker has sound reasons for their negativity. If yes, ask whether they’d like your help to solve the problem. If they ask for help, provide advice or ideas for how they can address the reason for their negativity.
Short-term advice that points a person in a positive direction is welcome. But, your role is not to provide therapy (治疗). Nor is your role to provide comprehensive career advice or long-term recommendations. Point the coworker to helpful books, seminars, or the Human Resources Department to solve their problem. Know your limits when advising coworkers.
If you are frank, hopefully, the negative person will stop complaining or unfortunately, probably target a less straightforward employee. If you see this happening, you might want to head to your HR manager to let him in on what is happening. He may address the problem to create a friendly workplace.
People repeatedly express their negative sentiments because
选项
A、they think they have no one to rely on
B、they think of themselves as a failure
C、they don’t believe they have been treated fairly
D、they don’t feel they have been really listened to
答案
D
