问题 Listen to the following dialogue and interpret it as required. After you hear a sentence or a short passage in Chinese, interpret it into English by speaking into the microphone. After you hear a sentence or a short passage in English, interpret it into Chinese. You may take notes while you are listening. You will hear the dialogue only once. Now, let’s begin.
B: Due to the pressures of overconsumption, population growth and technology, the biophysical environment is being degraded, sometimes permanently. This has been recognized, and governments have begun placing restraints on activities that cause environmental degradation. Since the 1960s, environmental movements have created more awareness of the various environmental problems.
B: Take the U. S. for example, Beginning in the 1960s, Americans have become increasingly concerned about the environmental impact of industrial growth. Engine exhaust from growing numbers of automobiles, for instance, was blamed for smog and other forms of air pollution in large cities. Pollution represented what economists call an externality—a cost that the responsible entity can escape but that society as a whole must bear. With market forces unable to address such problems, many environmentalists suggested that the government have a moral obligation to protect the earth’s fragile ecosystems, even if doing so required some economic growth to be sacrificed. In response, a slew of laws were enacted to control pollution, including the 1963 Clean Air Act. the 1972 Clean Water Act, and the 1974 Safe Drinking Water Act. Of course, I believe all countries have taken their measures to counter environmental pollution.
B: I can give you some tips here: Stop smoking. If you don’t smoke, you lessen air pollution and improve your lung health. Conserve water. Wash your clothes and dishes only after you have a full load. Unplug things. If an item isn’t in use, that doesn’t mean it isn’t requiring electricity while plugged in. If you can, avoid using plastic water bottles and paper.
B: You are welcome.

选项

答案A: Now many cities in China are faced with smog problems. From water pollution, land pollution and marine pollution to air pollution today, it seems that we have never escaped the trouble of environmental problems. I wonder whether people have been aware of the seriousness of these problems. A: Now that we have recognized the environmental problems, what measures have we taken? Are they effective? A: What can we do as individuals to play our own part in environmental protection? A: Thank you for your tips, I will do them all in my life. B:不客气。
