This will be the last stop on our tour. If you take a moment to look at the buildings on the left, you will notice that they are quite similar in style but differ in construction materials. The Smith Building looks much older than the Georges Building that is right next to it. That’s because many buildings in this area, such as the Georges Building, were heavily damaged during the war. Due to the damage, many buildings could not be salvaged and were completely torn down and rebuilt using modern materials. But local citizens wanted to remember the past so they wanted the new buildings to resemble the ones that were being replaced.
