Most young people enjoy some form of physical activity. It may be cycling or swimming. It may be mountain climbing, or in another word, mountaineering. People always admire mountain climbers.
Mountaineering is a sport, not a game. There are no man-made rules, which makes it totally different from football or golf. And this kind of freedom makes it attractive to people. Of course, mountaineering has its own rules. They are the rules for survival. If you ignore these rules, you are risking your life.
People may think that mountaineering is not a team sport. They are wrong. When climbers are on a rock where they may fall and die, there is obvious teamwork.
The mountain climber knows that he may have to fight forces that are stronger and more powerful than man. He has to fight the forces of nature. A mountain climber continues to improve in skill and experience. But with time his physical strength may fall. Compared with young climbers, more old climbers have managed to climb the highest mountains. They may take more time, but they probably climb with more skill, and they certainly experience equal enjoyment.
