We are committed to taking the lead in working with everyone, including our raw material suppliers, customers, and partners," said Inter IKEA CEO Torbjorn Loof.
    Renewable and recycled materials are not the only eco-friendly measures IKEA is taking. The company recently unveiled faucets that save over 90% of water and textiles that help purify the air in your home.
    "To achieve true recycling means meeting people’s changing lifestyles, extending product life, and using resources in a smarter way," said Lena Pripp-Kovac, Sustainability Manager at Inter IKEA.
    IKEA has also recently gotten into the solar panel business providing solar panels across 17 outlets in the UK. The firm collaborated with the UNHCR to develop a low-cost DIY house with a solar panel roof.
    IKEA has also been exploring furniture rental and repurchase services, which are better than simply buying and discarding furniture. "Consumers in different cities have different interests in this area. For example, in London, many people live far away from work and do not want to buy a house, so renting a house is very common, so their interest in furniture rental is also high," said IKEA CEO Jesper Brodin.
    These initiatives are all impressive and prove the firm’s dedication to preserving the environment. Now, if only all other companies would follow suit.
