American media say the United States is investigating possible Iranian involvement in a recent attack in the Iraqi city of Karbala. Five American soldiers were killed in the attack. The media are reporting comments of unnamed United States government officials.

A court in Cairo has sentenced an Egyptian man to 15 years in prison Saturday for spying for Israel. Mohammed al-Attar holds both Egyptian and Canadian citizenship. Three Israelis were also given 15 years sentences for reportedly employing the Egyptian.
