The picture describes such a common scene in China: everybody, regardless of their background, or age, is studying English for the preparation of WTO. China’s entry into WTO, which marks the milestone of our economic development, definitely depends on English to relate to outside world. As we know, in the process of globalization, people come to realize the necessity of a useful and effective communicative tool, hence, English stands out, which soon is accepted as a world language. People use it to communicate regardless of their purposes, fields, or nationalities. China, as one member of the Earth Village, actively involves itself in the process. Large population starts to learn it as a key to enter the world. Thus, we can definitely say that WTO boosts the boom of English learning in China. Years ago, someone dreamed the world as an Earth Village, and now it is already there. There is no denying that in the predictable future, with so many people learning English in China today, China will have a brighter future in the world tomorrow.
