答案 Different Friends or Similar Friends It is widely accepted that friendship plays an important role in so many aspects throughout one’s lifetime. However, people always apply different standards on this issue. Some people like to choose friends that are similar to them, while others prefer those who are different. In my opinion, choosing similar friends is a better choice because we are more likely to get along well with them and to have fun. First of all, similar friends mean similar customs and ways of thinking; therefore, they are generally more compatible and easy to get along with. Friends who are of a kind usually flock together like birds of the same feather do. Birds know their kind, so do people. It is a matter of genetic inclination more than anything else. Friends seem to be born, not made, for each other. I can think of no better illustration of the idea than the example of my roommate and me. We have the same believes and thoughts. We understand each other with one word; only a look is enough for me to know what she wants and only a gesture is sufficient for her to "see" what 1 think. Our friendship does not need to be proven because it exists regardless of time and distance. Another reason is that we can have more fun while having activities with those sharing the same interests. For example, I am an outgoing person, and I like travelling very much. It’s natural that most of my friends enjoy travelling, too. I cannot imagine going mountain climbing or skating with someone who just wants to sit in the room and watch TV all day. Furthermore, it takes years to get a person different from ourselves to be interested in us. Then, the easiest thing to find between each other is fault. Friends of different kinds separate more easily. By contrast, friends sharing similarities are naturally inclined to become fast friends despite faults. They tend to promote the good and happiness among themselves. All this is in character generated by inclination that counts. The choice of a friend defies counting merits. In conclusion, I think making friends who are similar to us is much better than making friends who are different from us. Though we can have various experiences when we meet friends who are different from us, the most important point in friendship is understanding each other. And if friends have different thoughts from us, they cannot understand us. Therefore, I think similarity is more important than variety in making friends.
