The European Commission will spend about ninety five million dollars over the next four years trying to prevent children and young adults from smoking. That’s a big increase on the twenty five million dollars it spend on its last anti-smoking campaign.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has left Tokyo on his first trip to the United States as prime minister. Mr. Abe says he plans to use his visit to Washington D.C. to build up trust with President Bush. The Bush administration says the president will hold a dinner for Mr. Abe and his wife late Thursday. The two men will then meet Friday at Camp David in the State of Maryland. Then the Japanese leader will begin a trip to five countries in the Middle East.
